Why Choose HDFC Ergo iCan Health Plan

Health Insurance company HDFC ERGO offers a cancer-specific plan called iCan Cancer Insurance. In the event that a member suffers from cancer, the plan will cover all of his or her medical expenses. Additionally, the plan provides coverage for cancer treatment costs in addition to its standard coverage. The plan provides standard coverage as well as advanced coverage. Advanced Plans cover cancer treatment costs in addition to the Basic Plan. During the policy term, the plan also provides for a medical second opinion if the insured person is initially diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is impossible to predict. One in ten Indians will develop cancer during their lifetime, according to a WHO report. In light of that, getting cancer insurance is a wise decision. HDFC ERGO Health's iCan Cancer Insurance provides you with health insurance coverage along with lump sum benefits to help you win the battle against cancer. Remember to never give up.
A number of benefits are available to customers of the iCan Cancer Health Insurance plan. There is something for everyone at iCan Cancer, from critical care benefits to lifelong coverage.

Benefits of Ican

Explanation

Getting a second opinion

A second opinion from a specialist is covered by the iCan cancer insurance for women and individual/family floaters, depending on the criticality of the cancer phase.

Coverage for life

In the first five years after cancer treatment, there is a high risk of recurrence. Cancer insurance for women is more beneficial since as women age, the probability of the occurrence of cancer increases. This is especially true when it comes to women's cancer insurance. With increasing age, females are more likely to develop breast cancer, ovarian cancer, etc.

Benefits under CritiCare

A lump sum payment of 60% of the insured sum is paid to the insured in the event of cancer. Cancer insurance for women also falls under this category. As an example, if the insured sum is Rs. 20 lakhs, the insured will receive Rs. 12 lakhs as a lump sum and can still use the base amount, of 20 lakhs, to cover treatment expenses.

Benefits under FamilyCare

A 100% lump sum payment of the sum insured is provided to the policyholder upon diagnosis of stage IV cancer or recurrence of cancer. In such a case, the policyholder would receive a lump sum payment of 20 lakhs, in addition to the base amount of 20 lakhs to cover any treatment expenses.

FAQ

What makes iCan different from regular health insurance?

The only cancer protection plan that provides complete coverage is iCan. Only your hospitalization expenses will be covered by your regular health insurance. iCan, on the other hand, offers full cancer coverage, including in-patient, out-patient, and daycare expenses, as well as other benefits:

  • A lump-sum benefit of 60% of the sum insured over the base cover if the person is diagnosed with cancer of specified severity
  • Upon diagnosis of advanced metastatic cancer and cancer recurrence, the insured receives a lump sum benefit of 100% of the sum insured over the base cover.
  • A twice-yearly medical examination is provided as part of the post-treatment care
  • Coverage for 30 and 60 days before and after hospitalization
  • Ambulance care in an emergency
  • Indemnity coverage for life
  • Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, organ transplantation, microsurgery, and other conventional and advanced treatments are available.

I already have regular health insurance that covers cancer, so why should I buy ICan?

According to Cancerindia.org, we have 2.25 million cancer cases in our country. Moreover, India has the lowest survival rate for this disease, with about 7 lakh deaths in 2018. Therefore, it would be beneficial if you purchased a cancer plan in addition to your regular health insurance.

According to our experts, cancer health insurance is essential if:

  • You have a family history of cancer
  • Using tobacco products, drinking alcohol, or living in a polluted environment
  • If cancer is diagnosed, insufficient financial support is available for expensive treatment.

Does this policy allow cashless benefits?

In any of our 13,000+ network hospitals across India, you can avail cashless services. Please provide notice at least 48 hours before any planned treatment or hospitalization or within 24 hours after the procedure or hospitalization if an emergency arises.

How does a lump sum payout work?

An insured receives a lump-sum payout after being diagnosed with cancer (according to the policy wording). iCan offers lump sum fixed cash benefits in the following forms:

  • Benefits offered by CritiCare
  • Benefits for family care

How is follow-up care provided after treatment?

After chemotherapy has been discontinued, we will cover up to rupees 3,000 in medical expenses twice a year with a recommendation from a physician for at least six months with "No evidence of disease".

Medical checkups are not a mandatory prerequisite for iCan policy, but we may request them for those older than 50 years.

Insurance companies assess risk, calculate premiums, and authenticate claims based on the declarations in the proposal form. In order to use the benefits and features of your health insurance when you need them, it is important that you provide the right information. The failure to do so can also result in policy rejections or claim rejections.

How does this plan differ from others?

Energy Health Insurance Plan comes in two variants:

1. Medical expenses for conventional cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, organ transplantation, and surgeries for the removal of cancerous tissue and organs/tissues (on-surgery) are covered under the Standard Plan.

2. Proton treatment, immunotherapy, immunology agents, personalized and targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, endocrine manipulation, stem cell transplantation, and bone marrow transplantation are all part of the Advanced Plan that includes the benefits of the standard policy along with additional coverage.
