The plan combines core hospitalization coverage with a wide range of healthcare benefits, including day-care treatment, modern treatment, AYUSH care, ambulance services, home care, maternity-related benefits and newborn coverage.

A key feature of Star Health Assure is its Automatic Restoration of Sum Insured, which can restore the Sum Insured for subsequent hospitalizations. Star Health Assure Optional Covers

The Star Health Assure brochure specifically provides an optional deductible cover. Other major benefits such as maternity, assisted reproduction, newborn coverage and restoration are included within the policy's coverage structure rather than being presented as a separate rider menu in the brochure.

  • Optional Deductible: Policyholders can choose an aggregate deductible of ?50,000 or ?1 lakh for every Policy Year. The deductible applies on an aggregate basis, meaning one or multiple claims can be counted towards exhausting the selected deductible before the insurer starts paying eligible claims.
  • Deductible Discount: The premium discount depends on the selected Sum Insured and deductible amount. For a Sum Insured of up to ?20 lakh, choosing a ?50,000 deductible provides a 45% premium discount, while a ?1 lakh deductible provides a 55% discount. For a Sum Insured above ?20 lakh, the discount is 35% with a ?50,000 deductible and 50% with a ?1 lakh deductible, subject to the applicable policy terms and conditions.
  • How the Deductible Works: For example, if an insured person has a ?10 lakh Sum Insured and chooses a ?50,000 aggregate deductible, the first claim of ?50,000 is not payable because it falls within the deductible. The available Sum Insured remains ?10 lakh. If a second claim of ?65,000 is made, the deductible has already been exhausted, so the eligible ?65,000 claim is payable and the remaining Sum Insured becomes ?9.35 lakh. A third eligible claim of ?55,000 would then reduce the remaining Sum Insured to ?8.80 lakh.
  • 10% Co-Payment for Higher Entry Age: A 10% co-payment applies to every claim for an insured person whose age at the time of entry is 61 years or above. This condition applies to both fresh and renewal policies and is a policy condition, not an optional cover.
